Michael is a Director of Saunders Havill Group and the Manager of the Town Planning and Urban Design team. Michael has over 15 years experience both within the private and public sector and has extensive experience with the design, assessment and delivery of large scale and highly complex development proposals. This has allowed him to develop an understanding of the complexities associated with meeting the needs of both the private sector and government agencies and use this in the development and interrogation of planning policy.
Michael specialises in planning in coastal areas, infrastructure planning, housing for the ageing as well as the interrogation and analysis of geographical data relating to the development of land within SEQ. These areas are a focus for Michael as he believes these are critical planning areas within Queensland and have the potential to impact on the delivery of projects in a difficult legislative and economic environment. Being able to navigate existing legislation and understand the fundamentals needed to deliver developments, and associated infrastructure, is critical to the efficient delivery of new high quality developments.
Beyond project work, Michael is passionate about the advancement of the planning and development profession and he has been an active member of the PIA for over 14 years. He is a member of a number of PIA Committees and also provides support and technical advice to industry bodies including the PIA and the PCA.
